Your inner fire is your greatest strength

At Youth for Eco Okay, we believe that the voices of young leaders light the path toward a sustainable future. One of the most inspiring among them is Xiye Bastida, a climate activist from the Otomi-Toltec Indigenous community in Mexico, who recently shared a powerful message in her speech, “Your Inner Fire Is Your Greatest Strength.”

Xiye reminds us that each of us carries a fire within - our passion, determination, and courage. In the fight for climate justice, this inner fire is not just a source of energy; it is our greatest strength. She calls on us to embrace both our grief and our hope, and to channel those emotions into action.

Her words highlight that climate activism is not only about science and policy, but also about humanity, resilience, and community. When we come together - igniting our inner fires and fuelling one another - we create a movement strong enough to confront the climate crisis.

For young people everywhere, Xiye Bastida’s speech is a reminder: you don’t need to wait to make a difference. Your fire already burns within you. Use it to spark change.
