Young Voices, Big Impact: YOUNGO at COP30 in Brazil 🌍
When we think of climate change, it’s often leaders and negotiators talking about what to do. But did you know that young people from around the world are also right at the heart of these conversations? That’s where YOUNGO comes in.

What is YOUNGO?
YOUNGO is the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It’s a global network made up of youth activists (up to age 35) and youth-led NGOs, all working together to make sure that the voices of young people are heard in global climate decision-making.
They don’t just talk — they take action: they write position papers, give policy input, and meet with key decision-makers at UN climate conferences.
YOUNGO’s Values
Their work is powered by youth-led collaboration, equality, and democracy. Decisions are made by consensus — everyone has a voice, no matter how big or small their organisation is.
They organise into working groups that focus on different areas: awareness and capacity building, policy advocacy, and youth-led action.
Why COP30 Matters
COP30 (the 30th UN Climate Change Conference) is being held in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
This conference is super important: it’s where country leaders, negotiators, scientists, and civil society come together to agree on big climate goals — like keeping global warming in check, helping vulnerable communities adapt, and protecting our forests and ecosystems.
YOUNGO at COP30
At COP30, YOUNGO isn’t just watching from the sidelines — they are actively participating. They’ll be making official statements, contributing to negotiations, and pushing for climate justice.
They also bring together young people through Local and Global Conferences of Youth (COYs), which help train and prepare them to take part in the big UN talks.
And because YOUNGO is run by young people, their presence at COP30 is a powerful reminder: the future is theirs, and they are ready to shape it.
Why It Matters for Kids & Young People
YOUNGO shows that anyone under 35 can influence global climate policy — not just adults in government.
It’s a space for young people to learn, connect, and grow: from writing policy statements to building leadership skills.
By being at COP30, YOUNGO helps make sure that decisions aren’t just about today — they think about what life will be like for future generations.
